Topic: Lord Teach us to Pray
The disciples had watched Jesus pray; they had seen the
dependence on His Father that was evident in His prayers. They wanted
to experience the power of prayer, so they went to Jesus with the request,
"teach us to pray".
Christians know the importance of prayer and yet struggle
with finding prayer a fulfilling experience, some perhaps no longer see
prayer as a regular and vital part of Christian life. The author Richard
Foster wrote "We believe prayer is something we should do, even something
we want to do, but it seems as if a chasm stands between us and actually
praying".
So our title is a prayer that we will learn how to pray and gain a deepening
desire to pray.
This short series will explore the meaning and purpose of
prayer, help us to understand the place of fasting in prayer and give
us some practical help through the experience of others in developing
our prayer life as individuals and as a fellowship.

The Boldness of Prayer. What does
Jesus want us to understand about prayer, what form should our prayers
take? How should we approach prayer? Fearfully? With doubt in our
minds? Jesus says with boldness and confidence because the Father
longs to answer.
