Topic: God Rescues His people. |
| The first 12 chapters of Exodus describe the actions
of God in rescuing the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. They are
chapters of high drama as through Moses and his brother Aaron God
brings his plans to bear. Nothing and no one can stand in the way
of this rescue. As we approach Easter the story serves to draw our
attention to a far greater rescue. Through the cross of Calvary men
and women can now pass over from death to life. |

chapters. They are suffused with God's compassion and grace as the
rescue plan is set out. Even human failure is not terminal.

Set against the power of Egypt we see the all powerful
intervention of God. The promise of deliverance is backed up by the
10 plagues that show clearly Egypt's gods are no match for the sovereign
God of Heaven.

The tenth plague sets the scene for what will be the most dramatic
night in Jewish history. Their rescue will come about through God's
saving grace and the shedding of blood.As we approach Easter the Passover
reminds us of the greatest rescue of all. Through the death of God's
son and the shedding of His blood we can enter into new life. |
