Our People...

We are made up of people from lots of different backgrounds and from different parts of Edinburgh, who enjoy a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

The congregation that meets at Bellevue Chapel is an evangelical and independent church in the tradition of the 'Christian Brethren'. Brethren churches are autonomous and self governing and can trace their roots back to the early 19th Century. The early founders of the movement left the established churches to meet for worship, communion, and Bible teaching according to their understanding of the simple pattern of the early church and without the restrictions of denomination and legalism.

Over the years, Bellevue Chapel has become well known as an open fellowship welcoming all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and there is a strong tradition of enjoying fellowship with Christians of no Brethren backgrounds. Respected in the community, the church has maintained healthy and on-going ministries among children, young people, and the elderly, and these have been blessed over the years. The present congregation numbers over 180 and is growing each year. There is a large group of young people including students, as well as older folks, families and children. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere and with God's help the church will continue to grow and flourish and be effective in communicating God's love to the community around.
