Proverbs: Wise Up!

Family Service January / February 2011

Title:  Wise up !

The book of Proverbs is a collection of wise advice mainly from King Solomon.  The words used in the first few verses immediately inform us of its aims – for attaining wisdom and discipline, for understanding, a prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair etc.  But we should not regard this as any old ‘self-help’ book that you could pick up at a book
shop.  Chapter 1 v 7 tells us that ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge...’  Here we learn how to ‘Wise up’ to living God’s way.  We’ll look at a number of areas of everyday life and learn what the Proverbs have to teach us.
