Advent Reader: Truth
Luke 1:1-4
Before Luke tells us about angels, shepherds, or a baby in a manger, he begins with something simple but profound: trust. He writes to reassure Theophilus — and us — that what follows is true. Luke has listened carefully, investigated thoroughly, and written thoughtfully “so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.”
I love that this is how the Christmas story begins — with care, honesty, and intention. Luke wants us to be sure that God really did what He promised. The birth of Jesus isn’t a legend or a comforting idea; it’s the true story of God stepping into the world He created, to bring light and hope to His people.
As we move into Advent, we’re invited to slow down and remember that our faith has a strong foundation. The same God who fulfilled His word back then is still faithful now. That truth gives us confidence to trust Him — not just with the Christmas story, but with our own stories too.
Lord, as I journey through Advent, help me rest in the truth of Your story and trust that You’re still writing hope into mine.
